Switchboard

Name: Switchboard

Description: She is small and a bit tom-boyish. She wears a sort of costume which is based on overalls and a bandanna. She has bulky gloves and a heavy iron bar. When she is in her bunker and “plugged in” she wears a clear plastic face-shield which wires attached to it. These wires also attach to her heavy iron bar. She has short hair and freckles.

Personality: Switchboard’s fiercely positive attitude is built on her belief that most of the rest of the world is populated with suckers and phonies. This, and her tendency to overload on media input, makes her prone to slip into short bouts of depression. When she is on top, though, she is sarcastic, impatient, and believes she has a good sense of humor.

Role: In Rapid City, Switchboard is the character who coordinates the heroing that others are already doing. She is not a leader or a decision maker. She simply allows those who are already out there doing it, to do it more effectively. As a metaphor, the character represents networking, marketing, and the effective application of technology.

Notes:

“You want me to go first? Ok. My name is Switchboard. I grew up around all of this superhero stuff my whole life. All of that “cape and glory” shit, I never saw that. I saw my dad’s friends with their masks off making racist jokes and talking about what villains they would do. So I never had that “ideal”, you know? I remember I was shocked when I figured out that other people actually looked up to these guys. They meant it when they called them “heroes”. I was so disappointed.
You know, it was the first time I realized that most people are pretty stupid. That’s a hard thing for a twelve year old to deal with. I was a pretty moody teenager.”

    Hi Josh!
My name is James. I am currently looking to develop my own 4 comic book titles. I am an artist and have began writing the plots for 3 of my comic book titles. I want full control of the art and writing of my titles.
Anyways, I am wondering if you needed someone still to do some of your art. I am very busy with my own artwork and titles along with being a full time employee at a bank and attending school full time at night.
I am interested in maybe drawing character concepts for you and maybe do a page or panels when I can.
Do you still need an artist that can draw your characters?
You can contact me at Jamesbui87@gmail.com

      Thanks, James.
I am always excited when people want to translate my ideas into a visual medium, whether it’s pages, panels, character designs… or who knows what else.

I’ll be in touch with you later today.

      Thanks again.
