Name: Hourglass
Description: Young and pretty. She has a classic pin-up girl figure. This is the double meaning of her name. Her costume is sexy and a bit revealing without being “bad girl”. She does not get to be a sex object in her daily life, so she plays up that side of her personality when in costume. She draws inspiration from pulp crime fighters. She wears a mask which covers the top half of her face.
Personality: She is a brilliant young researcher who has discovered a way to manipulate the flow of time around her. Being a shy lab-rat, she uses this ability to express the more outgoing side of her personality. She wants to be fun and outgoing, but has not really developed the social skills to effectively pull that off. This creates a kind of stand-offishness which, when under a mask, seems aloof and mysterious.
After her first encounter with Maxwell Murder she is focused and driven to the point of recklessness and disregard for personal well-being.
Role: She acts as a foil to Kinetic. While he has a desire with no specific purpose or goal, she has a very specific goal that consumes her entire life. Ultimately, the lesson he will learn from her is about how you prioritize the different parts of your life.
Notes:
She came about because I decided that I needed another strong female character. I wanted her to arrive as a mysterious femme fatale….. I wanted her to keep Kinetic and the reader guessing. Establishing her story is the reason I had to go back and change the sequence of events in the first three issues. It’s funny that a character with time powers caused me to go back and change the “past” of the story.
a warning, there will be spoilers in these notes

Still kind of thin. I need a solid hook on her. I know I want her to be something of a mystery and a Femme Fatale. Not a classic Hollywood or noir style, but certainly much darker, and sexier, than this universe usually is. She has a sexy, dangerous, abandon that makes her very attractive to Kinetic. Not so much in a romantic way, but just that she is out there doing it.
My main hold up with her is that i do not know the details of her back story. I know that she is a nerdy type when she is not out doing super stuff. Like a web-diva she can cut loose and be sexy and outrageous when she has a mask on. Her name, Hour Glass, is a reference to her time control powers and to her figure.
She is out to solve her own murder and tie up some loose ends. I know that I don’t want it to be as simple as a random street killing, nor do I want it to be a plot-twisty mystery. For HER it can be that, but Kinetic’s involvement can’t be that deep in it. He is not a detective and this is not a detective story. However, he will certainly be drawn to the resolve with which she pursues her goal.
I need to figure out her story, and then figure out how Kinetic intersects with it. I lik e her character and her story (such as it is) but I don;t want her to take over the story.
