Rapid City heats up.

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

I just read an amazing book on directing film, which just happened to find in my living room. Really, no one is sure where it came from. It has changed my perspective on scene construction an sent my back through my scripts for “Rapid City”. I am so excited about the changes that are being made. Subtle changes and inmprovements here and there just thrill me. Like the whole thing is shifting into super-high-def focus.

And, in real news, The REAL Rapid City hit temperatures higher than 100 degrees on Saturday according to The Rapid City Journal.

Well, we are hard at work on getting things ready for the Motor City Comic Con next month and Micah is just blowing me away (he stole my mojo) with his latest work. It’s so solid and just incredible. Here’s a sneak peak.

[SNEAK PEEK] Shady characters.

Monday, April 3rd, 2006

Micah, Jason, and I are all hard at work on producing our preview book for the Motor City Comic Convention. You can see in the previous entry how Jason’s pencils are looking. Well, Micah has been trying to put together the panels that will form the frame narrative. Without revealing too much, it is a conversation between two characters.

This was an early version…..

It seemed to stiff. The body language just wasn’t affectionate enough. So Micah went back to work.

And came up with this……

Which became this…..

Stunning, but now TOO affectionate.

So he went back to the page. Keep in mind, this is all being done in the space of a few hours.

And then this image showed up in our discussion forum. There is just so much warmth and drama in this image I am going to feel clumsy and stupid gumming it up with a bunch of words.

I tell you, it is great just watching this process unfold. But being a part of it….I can’t even find the words. This is great.

Script peek

Monday, February 27th, 2006

This scene is well into Act II.

I am going leave the details out, so as to not spoil anything.

This is Sidekick and Wraith trying to get some information out of an uncooperative enemy.

Sidekick: “So, we were thinking about playing good-cop-bad-cop with you. Only,…

(punches guy in the stomach)

…I don’t have to be all that good, because my partner here is the worst cop in the world. You see those bones sticking out of his arms? Those aren’t his bones.”
