Wraith.

Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

There are some things far scarier than bats or the devil. There’s something that won’t die, there’s justice in the dark, there’s… Wraith!

Micah is just blowing me away with his latest work. It’s top notch and I know everyone is just going to love it.

So enjoy.

Hector revision sheet

[*Click image to view larger version.]

From left to right. Here’s some development on a character we are calling “Hector”.

I love the unique mask and collar thing, but something about those, along with his vest, made his proportions look wierd. I thought he looked sort of like a little kid.

Jason added the shoulder armor, beefed up the glove, and made the vest more functional looking. This solved the proportion thing.

When I was looking through the photo reference that Jason sent me, I noticed that one of the vests had these cool leg-straps. It occurred to me that if this guy is going to be mixing it up with super heroes and villains, then an unsecured vest could get yanked right off. So, we added the straps between the legs.
Pads, straps, clips, finished details, and Hector is basically done.

Viper.

Saturday, May 27th, 2006

In essence, Viper’s story is a Bildungsroman so we will see him progress through a number of developmental stages in his life as a superhero. To emphasize this, he will wear a number of costumes throughout the series. This is one of them. Jason and I are still going back and forth on designs, but we’ve settled on a couple.

Love,

Micah

Back home…in Indiaaana!

Monday, May 22nd, 2006

MONOLITH MCC Badge Well, I’m safely home in Indiana after a great trip to Detroit for the Motor City Comic Con.  It was a great weekend not only because it served as a three-day reunion for all of us, but also because we were able to meet so many great people.  Thanks to everyone who showed their support — from the vendors to the fans to our fellow creators.  We’re excited to know you all.

During the con, Josh and I went out to meet and greet a number of vendors.  We were ecstatic with the nigh-universal support from them all.  Most of those to whom we spoke are fervently Indy-friendly. We look forward to working with all of them.

In the meantime, please take a moment to click through the sites of those who we met who have websites: look around, see what’s up, and maybe even buy something.  These are some of the people who will carry our book when it comes to release time:

Say “hi” to Dennis and Carlos (and take that Watto statue off their hands!) at WONDERWORLD.

See what Al’s selling over in Chautauqua at Chautauqua Comics.

Buy comics and stuff from Marc at Heroes In Action.

See how World Famous Comics is supporting everybody in the biz.

…and…

See how the guys at Taurus Comics are “helping kids and superheroes everywhere” out of Port Huron!

These are just a fraction of the vendors who are showing their support for us, so please take the time to show our support for them.  Many of the vendors do not have websites, so we will be looking forward to finding ways to recognize them in the future in alternative ways.

In the meantime, special thanks to John Kula, Billy Carlysle, Lanaes, Jospeh Busillo, Marcus King, Darryl Dean, James Nurss, Keith Daggett, John Kost, Al Steffens, Marc Patten, Tim Lohn, Marc Bollard, and the gang at Warp 9 for taking time out of the con to talk to us about supporting this project.

Love,

Micah
